HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONALS

Quick! Answer this. If you were looking for a qualified and experienced professional to join your company, where would you turn to? If you like score of other potential hirers are interested in getting hold of the finest and the best, you would surely turn to a qualified human resource professional. But how exactly do you find a qualified human resource professional? For one thing, there are barely any consultants for consultants themselves. And two, human resource managers are not really going to advertise their profiles on the major job search engines.

One way would be to check their human resource degrees. I’m sorry, did I say human resource degrees? That’s right! Gone are the days when human resource professionals had to contend themselves with measly certifications or diplomas. These titles have for a long time denied human resource professionals their true place under the sun. For some reason, the very fact that they had a diploma and not a degree made them feel less like professionals. And that is surely not a good thing when it comes to human resource professionals! There were also other reasons behind this. For one thing, human resource management didn’t come to be considered a management degree until a few years ago. Before that it was a mysterious science (or art, depending on which camp you belonged to) that enabled people to find people. But nowadays, we have a term for such people. We call them human resource professionals. And they come armed with years of study, an understanding of the human psyche and experience in finding the right job for the right professional.

Why, some of the present day human resource professionals also come armed with subsidiary degrees in labor law and even human rights. The breed of human resource professionals is changing before our very eyes. And the fundamental difference is that they have pride! Pride in the fact that they can advertise their services as professionals and not as mere diploma or certificate holders. And in the corporate world that we inhabit, chief executive officers have come to rely on human resource professionals as people who have a critical role to play in the development of the business. This is because, like the rest of society, companies too have understood the difficulty in finding good people and retaining them. Human resource professionals have never had it so good. And the good times are only likely to continue.
