LEATHER FURNITURE

We are in the process of redoing our living room area of our home. We have had the same furniture for several years. Our daughter and her husband recently moved into a home that has a family room and living room. They were happy to take our old furniture to use until they could afford new things for their home. We painted the walls and hung new drapes then we went to find new furniture. I was anticipating a battle because my husband wanted leather furniture and I did not.

My husband and I usually agree on most things. When we went to pick out the paint for the walls we quickly agreed on a color. We both like hardwood floors. I like upholstered sofas and chairs and he likes leather furniture. I am not sure why he has always wanted the leather furniture. He did not grow up with it. I have asked a number of people that own leather furniture in their home and most of them report that they would not purchase it again. They find that it is not as comfortable as upholstery.

The first furniture store we went to we did not find any furniture that we thought would fit well in our space. In the second store we found rounded leather chairs. The leather was very soft and the colors were great. I had wanted one red accent chair and one of the colors that were available was a nice shade of red. The chairs were very comfortable and were the perfect size. There were not any other matching pieces. The sales clerk showed us an upholstered couch that complimented the leather furniture. The couch was very comfortable. We decided to purchase the three pieces as well as a set of side tables.

When we brought the furniture into the room we congratulated ourselves on making great decisions. The arrangement looked very nice and was quite comfortable. Now that we have had the furniture for a while my husbands has admitted that he is glad we have the upholstered couch because he does not think it would comfortable lying on leather. We decided that the area rug we had on the floor needed to be replaced. We went back shopping and found a braided rug that complimented the furniture. We also found accent pillows to put on the leather chairs. We also purchased new lamps for the side tables. It seems like once you start bringing in new things into a room the existing things look old and faded.
