CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIESChocolate Chip Cookies
Chocolate chip cookies are one of the most popular cookie recipes ever. Historically, the scrumptious cookie was whipped up one day in the kitchen of Massachusetts inn owner, Ruth Wakefield, in 1930. She added small chunks of Nestlé’s Semisweet Chocolate Bar to her basic butter cookie dough and the rest is history. The cookies became an immediate success, and the guests of the Toll House Inn couldn’t quit raving about this awesome new recipe. Soon Nestle heard about Wakefield’s combination and in 1939 purchased the rights to use the recipe for “The Famous Toll House Cookie”, which was placed on every bag of Nestlé’s Semisweet Chocolate Chips. To this day, this cookie is reportedly America’s favorite! Visit www.joyofbaking.com to read more including the original chocolate chip cookie recipe.
