CAKE DECORATING SUPPLIES

Don’t you find it amazing how different we all are from each other? Just stop to consider all the variations there are in everything around us. There are unlimited choices in different foods to eat. There are unlimited choices in what clothes we choose to wear. Each of us chooses a different career path as well as style of house we are going to live in. The one common bond we all have is our uniqueness. I have always recognized this amongst my friends and co-workers, but I did not think I would experience it between my two daughters.

My daughters are two years apart in age. They look very much alike but their personalities are extremely different from each other. My oldest daughter enjoys cooking, crafting, sewing and wearing nice clothes and makeup. My younger daughter loves to hunt, fish, play sports and could care less about fashion. They are both very pleasant and fun to be around. My oldest daughter went to college and majored in business. She took out a loan and purchased a small shop that sells cake decorating supplies. This was not a surprise because she has enjoyed baking since she was a young girl. When she was eleven years old she asked me to take her to a local store that sells cake decorating supplies so she could buy a small boat and candy fish to decorate her father’s birthday cake. My husband loves fishing and she wanted to make him a cake with a fishing theme. While she was at home decorating the cake my younger daughter was out with their dad catching the fish that we were planning on preparing for his birthday dinner.

My daughter’s shop is doing very well. In addition to cake decorating supplies she has a full line of candy supplies and fillings for coffee cakes. There are many bakers that come and get their supplies for making wedding cakes and other special occasion cakes. During the holiday season I help her out in the shop because so many people come in to buy supplies for making candy and other holiday favorites. My daughter has made wedding cakes for several of her friends. She gets so many requests that she has had to turn some people down. She makes the cakes at her apartment and then transports them to where ever the receptions are being held. She uses cake decorating supplies from her shop to make the cakes very unique. She has thought of also starting a bakery specializing in the unique cakes, but she is not sure she would be able to handle both businesses. My younger daughter is just finishing her business degree. She told her sister she would go into business with her, but instead of selling cake decorating supplies she is interested in a tackle shop. Somehow I do not think the two businesses would do that well together.
